About Armondo Dellasanta
Armondo Dellasanta (1916-2010) was born of immigrant parents on September 24, 1916 in Binghamton, New York. He grew up in an ethnically diverse neighborhood filled with shops and teeming with activity. He served in the Civilian Conservation Corps and fought in France and Austria during World War II where he earned the Bronze Star. After the war, he returned to Binghamton and earned a living as a master framer and painting conservator.
His oil paintings, etchings and drawings were featured in a large number of exhibitions, more recently at the Roberson Museum & Science Center, Binghamton, N.Y. in 2003-2004 and the Italian American Museum, New York, N.Y. in 2006. In June 2004, Mr. Dellasanta was honored with a star on Binghamton’s Walk of Fame by the Rod Serling Foundation. In 2007, he received a Lifetime Achievement Award from the Broome County Arts Council. In January 2008, his life and work were profiled in a 26 minute segment on public TV station WSKG in a series called, “Expressions – the Art and Soul of the Southern Tier.” His work is included in numerous collections in the United States and Europe
