2013camps

The following is a list of Roberson’s 2013 Summer Camps.  Registration is required.  Please note that camps require a minimum number of participants, and are subject to change. Tuition is non-refundable. All materials included. All camps run from 9am-3pm daily.

Each Camp Tuition is $172 for members, $215 for non-members, *except July 1-5 camp (see below)

Recycled Art
Monday through Friday, June 24-28
Grades 3 – 7

Learn what to create with all those odds-and-ends at home. Campers will create a variety of art projects using recycled and upcycled materials as well as materials in nature. At the end of this camp, students host an art show for their parents to showcase their projects for the week.

Adventure Week
Monday through Friday, July 1-5. No class July 4.
Grades 3 – 7

Each day will have a different theme; including Pirates,
Explosive Science, The World of Water, and Survivor.
*Price for the entire week is $136 for members, $170 for non-members

Indiana Jones Camp
Monday through Friday, July 8-12
Grades 3 – 7

Go on adventure and hunt for treasure! Campers will dig for artifacts and investigate their findings to explore ancient civilizations. Learn and practice restoration skills and even create a time capsule for future generations to find.

Crime Scene Investigations Camp
Monday through Friday, July 15-19
Grades 4 – 8

Explore the exciting world of forensic science including crime scene investigation, evidence analysis, witness interrogation and fingerprinting! Campers will conduct a trial with a jury of parents and attempt to prove their case using the evidence they have collected.

Prehistoric Adventures Camp
Monday through Friday, July 22-26
Grades 2 – 5

Travel back in time to the age of dinosaurs, prehistoric monsters of the sea and sky, and other unique creatures. Search for fossils and learn how to identify prehistoric beings. Discover unique adaptations and use your findings to design your own creature.

Science Fiction Film Camp
Monday through Friday, July 29 – August 2
Grades 4 – 8

To infinity and beyond! Campers will explore space travel through Science Fiction films and gain inspiration for their own space mission. They will discover the solar system, learn to navigate by the stars and build a simple rocket. Finally, campers will create their own Science Fiction film to premiere!

Make it Work Camp
Monday through Friday, August 5-9
Grades 4 – 8

Become a designer! Campers will exercise their creativity and problem solving skills to design basic machines, new inventions and musical instruments. At the end of the week, campers will create their own exhibit and demonstrate their “works.”

Stick, Icky and Weird Science Camp
Monday through Friday, August 12-16
Grades 2 – 5

Explore the sticky, icky and weird world of science. Get up close and personal with insects and learn about what distinguishes them from other creepy crawlies. Search in the river for creatures while surveying their habitat. Make sticky substances, and edible things that will gross out your friends and family.

Drawing and Animation Camp
Monday through Friday, August 19-23
Grades 5 and up

Let’s put things in motion using hand and computer drawings, toys, found objects, and clay models! This popular camp begins with basic forms of animation, such as flipbooks, then moves on to computer animation programs. Campers will script, film and edit their own stop-motion short film.

Who’s up for the Challenge? 
Monday through Friday, August 26-30
Grades 3 – 7

Get ready to compete. Campers will go for the gold by taking part in fun activities that challenge their mind and encourage teamwork. Campers will become gladiators, participate in chariot races, construct obstacle courses and participate in scavenger hunts, as well as take part in creative thinking activities.
