Little Learners: Science of Sound (Virtual)

In this 1-hour STEAM workshop students will learn the science of sound, create sounds with household objects and design their own musical shaker!

NOTE: All supplies are suggestions but are not required for attendance. This lab was designed to be flexible and easily altered dependent on materials you can find in your own home.

For the Sound Lab Demonstrations:
1-2 pots or pans
3-4 empty cups or jars of different shapes and sizes
1 cup with water
Rubber Bands
2 Spoons
Pens/Pencils
2-3 sheets of Paper

For the Musical Shaker:
BASIC CONSTRUCTION: Tape and scissors
MAIN BODY OPTIONS: paper towel roll, toilet paper roll, plastic bottle, or plastic cup
TOP OPTIONS: Sturdy paper (Cardstock) or 2 pieces of regular paper, bottle cap
FILLER OPTIONS: Dried rice, dried pasta pieces, dried lentils or beans, beads, et
DECORATION OPTIONS: Markers, crayons, colored paper, stickers, etc.
