Home for the Holidays

November 14, 2018 - January 6, 2019

Home for the Holidays is Roberson Museum and Science Center’s largest annual event and busiest time of year, featuring hundreds of elaborately decorated trees, dazzling Holiday displays, and the International Forest. The celebration begins November 14 and doesn’t stop until after the New Year on January 6. We have two months packed with activities, live music, performances, and parties to get everyone into the spirit of the season.

Saturday – Wednesday: 11AM – 5PM
Thursday – Friday: 11AM – 9PM

*Closed after 3 pm on Christmas Eve; Closed Christmas Day, Closed New Year’s Eve, Closed New Year’s Day

Holiday Mansion Tours

Fridays at 6PM and 7PM

Saturdays and Sundays at 1PM, 2PM, and 3PM

See the Mansion transformed this holiday season!

Take a walk through our Mansion and hear stories that will put you in the holiday spirit. Learn about the Roberson family, their origins, and get to know their generosity and commitment to building a more thoughtful community.

These heartwarming stories will only be matched by the glow of our forest of decorated trees, which will fill the Roberson Mansion and Museum.

Tours are typically 30 – 45 minutes.

Tours are first come, first serve, and are limited to 25 people per tour. Tours are included in the price of admission, which is $8 for general admission; members are free.

Season of Light

As the Earth tilts and the sun arcs across the sky, the seasons change. But people long ago, did not know that this was just part of the Earth’s transition around the sun. Step back to explore how cultures across the world explained this seasonal event and developed traditions around it.

Let It Snow

Celebrate the season with this musical show in our fulldome planetarium, featuring five festive classics from Frank Sinatra, Chuck Berry, Burl Ives, and Brenda Lee, with a stunning multimedia finale by the Trans Siberian Orchestra.

Santa’s Craftshop

Saturdays 12 – 3PM

Enter Santa’s craftshop where kids of all ages can participate in making a holiday craft celebrating the cultures and traditions that embody this season.

Come to our activity lab and learn something new about the holidays through a hands-on activity.

 

Here We Are Now (Entertainers)

Fridays, Saturdays, and Sundays

Throughout our Home for the Holidays celebration, our Mansion and Museum will be home to live bands, carolers, A Capella groups, a bell choir, a harp player, and more. Guests can come sit and listen or do so as they wander through our forest of brightly decorated trees.

A Christmas Carol

Follow Ebenezer Scrooge through the rooms and halls of Roberson Mansion in this this interactive production of A Christmas Carol.

Each room, hallway, and stairwell provides a new stage and setting for audience’s to witness Scrooge’s transformation on that fateful Christmas Eve long ago. See this classic Charles Dickens tale in a new form as it’s performed through the halls of the festively decorated Roberson Mansion.

Enjoy hot drinks and cookies after the production.

Also, Gift Memberships to Roberson Museum are 50% off during Home for the Holidays.

Seating is limited.

$33 per person.

Showtimes are Sunday, December 9 and 16 at 5:30PM and 7:30PM.

Tickets go on sale online November 8.

 

The Last Masquerade

Did you know the Roberson’s never had a single party in their Mansion while they lived there? We’re making up for that during our New Year’s party.

The party to end the year is back for one final send-off in the Mansion.

Three floors of music, hors d’oeuvres, desserts, drinks, and entertainment in a Gilded Age Mansion. Let’s party.

-Live music and dancing on the first floor.
-DJ “Mo” Reese in the third floor Ballroom.
-See your future and learn of the fortunes in your future with psychic, Ravyn.
-Performances by Robb Riddel – Magician and Mind Reader.
-Photos by Pavlik Photo and Design.
-Champagne toast at midnight as we enter into the New Year in style.
-Hors d’oeuvres, desserts, and drinks provided by Gance’s Catering.

Pre-sale tickets ($52) go on sale Nov 1. Limit 100 tickets. Sale goes until Nov 14 or until we run out.

STEAM Winter Break Camps

December 26, 27, and 28 (9am to 3pm)
Grades 2 – 6

Explore our dynamic Winter Break Camps. Three days of engaging lessions, three opportunities for your child to advancein history, STEM, or art. Our camps are lead by a team of accredited educators.

Limited to 15 kids to ensure the best learning environment.
