Experience Binghamton’s only spring break camp that meets all STEAM criteria. Each day campers will explore a different theme as they participate in engaging activities that correlate with Roberson’s exciting new exhibitions! You will also gain insight to our most popular summer camps, and discover what it means to be a Roberson camper!
**Camp is for grades 2 through 5. Price per day is $36 for Roberson members, and $45 for non-members. Price for the entire week (April 2- April 6, 2018) is $172 for Roberson members, and $215 for non-members. Before care (8 – 9 am) and after care (3 – 5 pm) are offered at a nominal fee of $7 per day, or $30 for the week. Campers must bring their own bagged lunch.**

Monday, 4/2/18: Spring Into Science
Do peeps dissolve quicker in vinegar or soda? How fluffy can you make pastel elephant toothpaste? Find out today, in this camp where you can explore the unique characteristics of all things spring! Campers will participate in various STEM activities including an egg parachute challenge, constructing a boat from peeps, designing their own salt paintings, creating their own eggshell plant to take home, and more!
Tuesday, 4/3/18: Hop into Art History
Campers will travel through time to discover various artists and their unique masterpieces, starting with the 1880s. Your child will utilize their newfound knowledge to produce their own mini gallery, and bring home their custom works of art including (but not limited to) a primary pointillism piece, an abstract drip painting inspired by Jackson Pollock, and a collage influenced by Alma Woodsey. Let’s get painting!
Wednesday, 4/4/18: Wildlife Wednesday
In conjunction with our newest exhibit, Nature Trek, campers will explore in depth five different habitats found throughout New York state. Campers will receive a magnified look at almost 100 mounted specimens, utilize our onsite raven technology from the Cornell Lab of Ornithology, construct various habitats in the Ann B. Van Atta Children’s Activity Center, design your own unique bird that can be found in one of the Nature Trek habitats, and more in this camp that can’t be found anywhere else!
Thursday, 4/5/18: A Day of Space
Today calls for all space explorers as you complete a space lander STEM mission, view our new digital planetarium show From “Planet X” to New Horizons: The Story of Pluto, participate in space station engineering activities, create your own galaxy slime, and many more activities that are out of this world!
Friday, 4/6/18: Photography Friday
Did you miss Nature’s Best Photography last year? No worries! This exhibit that is unique only to Roberson Museum and the Smithsonian Museum of Natural History, will provide campers with an up close look at some of nature’s most exciting creatures and their habitats. Campers will embark on a nature themed scavenger hunt, participate in animal adaptation STEM challenges, create their own conservation awareness poster, and more (**please bring a form of a camera whether it be digital, phone, tablet, or ipod).
