Roberson Museum and Science Center will re-open to the public beginning this Saturday and Sunday, September 10-11, with half-price admission from 12-5pm.

Thanks to tireless efforts from our competent, committed and prepared staff, Roberson handled the flooding extremely well.  We were confident in our preparations for this event, and water is receding from our parking lot.

Protecting our past and preserving our area’s rich cultural heritage is of high importance at Roberson, and in the face of such a massive flooding event, our collections become priority number one.

Although there was some property damage, we are proud to report our collections, which are tremendously important gifts and representations of our community’s heritage, along with our exhibitions – are safe and dry.

We would especially like to thank the Binghamton Fire Department for assisting Roberson staff with setting up our pumping system before the coming flood.

We remain on schedule with our September Soiree on September 22 and with our Annual Two Rivers Fine Arts and Crafts Festival September 24 and 25.

Support provided by the general operations support grants from the United Cultural Fund, a program of the Broome County Arts Council; the Conrad and Virginia Klee Foundation; the Zoos, Botanical Gardens and Aquariums Program, administered by the New York State Office of Parks, Recreational, and Historical Preservation; and the New York State Council on the Arts with the support of the Office of the Governor and the New York State Legislature.
