Join Roberson and Museum Science Center in celebrating Earth Day with Earth Day Southern Tier and the Binghamton Zoo at Ross Park on Saturday, April 20th from 10 AM – 5 PM.

 

Earth Fest 2013 is being held on the BCC Campus, but Roberson and the Zoo are also celebrating.  Admission to Roberson gets you a $2.00 discount to the Binghamton Zoo, and FREE admission to Earth Fest.  If you visit Earth Fest or the Zoo first, get $2.00 off admission at Roberson.  Just remember to get a hand stamp at any of the three locations.  Broome County is also offering a free trolley ride between the Binghamton Zoo, Roberson and BCC throughout the day.  The trolley will leave BCC on the hour between 10:00 AM and 4:00 PM, and the Binghamton Zoo on the half hour between 10:30 AM and 4:30 PM, stopping each way at Roberson.  A hand stamp from one of the three locations is required for the Trolley.

At Roberson:

Open 10am-5pm, admission is $8 for adults, $6 for students and seniors, kids under 4 are free ($2 off with a stamp from the Zoo or Earth Fest).  From 12:30-3:30 visitors can participate in hands on activities about the environment with Binghamton University students from BU Science.  At 1, 2 and 3 there are planetarium shows for an additional fee of $4 a person.  Also explore our Model Train Layout,Treasures of the VaultThe Civil War and other exhibitions.

At the Zoo: 

Activities at the Zoo are focused around a celebration for the 138th Grand Opening, Admission to the Binghamton Zoo is $7 for adults, $6 for seniors and students, $5 for children 3-11, and children under 2 are free.  See Amur Tigers, an Amur Leopard, Snowy Owls, Red Pandas, Lemurs, and so much more!  Also throughout the day will be an Earth Day craft (while supplies last), face painting and information tables.

At Earth Fest: 

This year the fest will take place at the Broome Community College. The main event will be held in the gymnasium in the Student Center and the quads outside. BCC will have a kids activity in the gym for planting.  Food and Music can be found in the Cafeteria.  Visit http://www.myedst.org/earth.html for more information.  Roberson Museum and Science Center will be in the children’s activity area, allowing children to explore theJourney of a Water Molecule.  Kids learn about the water cycle through making a bracelet with different beads.  We will also have information on our summer camps and other educational programs.  The Binghamton Zoo at Ross Park will have a Zoomobile (10-1 and 3-5), as well as Earth Day activities.
