Roberson Museum and Science Center is bringing a national touring exhibit to Binghamton. BLOW UP: Inflatable Contemporary Art explores the imaginative ways that artists use air as a tool for creating large-scale sculpture and includes imagery that is figurative and abstract.
BLOW UP is coming to Roberson March 2 – May 1 as part of a National Tour organized by the Bedford Gallery in Walnut Creek, CA. Roberson will host a Members’ Opening Reception on Tuesday, March 1 from 5:30-7:30pm. The exhibition will be on public display March 2 – May 1. Organized by Bedford Curator Carrie Lederer, BLOW UP features several large-scale artworks by a diverse roster of internationally renowned artists.
With fun and whimsical figures like 18-foot inflatable superheroes, a 10-foot white elephant, nearly 16-foot bunnies, and more – BLOW UP creates an immersive environment that challenges our feet-on-the-ground perspective, and not to mention, makes for an awesome selfie!
Roberson will host a variety of weekend programs and activities highlighting components of the exhibit, including a “make your own” inflatable workshop, a superhero day, and an Easter egg hunt.
